2021 benefit report
GiveMore® helps individuals and organizations raise funds more effectively. We do this by providing tools and services that enable charitable giving, matching donations, and the socialization of causes.
From the very beginning when GiveMore® was just an idea that had been quickly sketched out on a scrap piece of paper, I knew I had to do things right. To me doing it the right way meant being in line with the triple bottom line: People, Planet, and Profit. Doing it the right way meant trying to craft a business where everyone involved benefits from the process. This is no easy feat but is vitally important.
While our operating agreement had provisions to be a benefit company from day one, it wasn’t until several years later, in 2019, that we officially became certified through Benefit Corporations for Good.
Our mission is to encourage you and your community to give more.
We aim to do this by developing innovative tools and marketing practices that will help our causes attract and engage donors ultimately leading to greater levels of giving. We also aim to operate in a way that is inclusive and develops a diverse culture.
2021 Year in Review
2021 began a shift in strategy. Time was invested in upgrading several internal components and continuing to improve the user experience. Trial campaigns from prior years improved the platform to the point that GiveMore worked in a way similar to GoFundMe. It became clear that to have the biggest impact, adjustments were needed to make the platform really stand out.
After the initial upgrades, much of 2021 was spent in planning mode. My goal now is to explore the fundraising landscape to determine where I can have the most impact. GiveMore is still very much an experimental startup.
This past year’s main technological adjustment was to support a much more complete Stripe Integration. Additionally, mailing list and subscription tools were developed for future inclusion. One addition that helped make the application easier to manage is that the Pledge Fund portion of platform tips is now automatically diverted into their dedicated account. New internal dashboards have also been developed to allow easier monitoring and we can now delegate the ability to direct Pledge Grants to any user on the platform. The Pledge Fund is our way of giving back. 20% of all platform tips support this fund from which we are able to offer pledge grants to causes looking to use GiveMore.
Moving forward, GiveMore is exploring different ways the platform can be adapted to support finding product market fit. Exciting things are to come.
